Led by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, the politicians ruled out the proposals the coalition is making with regards to the ongoing process of ratifying the reforms, saying that such are likely to nose-dive the country into bedlam come 2017 and cause violence in the Elections.
Muturi spoke during a fundraiser on Sunday when the leaders further faulted the CORD of ever-changing goal posts for what they said is to please personal interests.
These amendments they are calling for are not justifiable. How can we announce the presidential election results at polling stations? This would cause violence in some parts of the country. The opposition should re-evaluate these issues,’ JM Waiganjo was quoted by The Standard.
CORD has apparently proposed the declaration of presidential results at polling centers in what they say is ending rigging while results are being diffused to the main centre to be checked before they are publicized.
They are also pushing for the appointment of part-time electoral officers to supervise elections. Muturi however also darned the CORD for deceptively affronting the National Assembly by claiming that any process instituted by the opposition will not go through due to the tyranny of numbers possessed by Jubilee.
